Josephine Dvorken received her B.F.A. in 1994 from the University of New Mexico and her Master of Professional Studies degree from the School of Visual Arts in 2011. In addition to her fine art projects, she is a photographer who accepts commissions. In 2008 she was selected as the “Best Child Photographer” by (201) Magazine. In 2007 she was awarded three Honorable Mentions at the Lucie Awards the prestigious international photo competition. In 2009 she was recognized in the international Photography Book Now competition for Familiar Strangers: A Community Portrait. Dvorken also had a solo show of the Familiar Strangers work at the Umbrella Arts Gallery in New York City in 2009. Her most recent project, A. Blessing focuses on the complicated relationship between a man and his housekeeper.
