The readers of this short book would, I believe, readily agree that ‘democracy’ and ‘social justice’ are desirable notions. We can recall Abraham Lincoln’s rousing words, equating democracy to “government of the people, by the people, and for the people.” What more positive statement could there be to summarise our aspirations as political beings?
