This collection of photographs is inspired by “bokeh”, in photography, bokeh is the blur. The aesthetic quality of the blur, in out-of-focus areas of an image, or ‘the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light.’



The term comes from the Japanese word ’boke’, which means ‘blur’ or ‘haze’, or ‘boke-aji’, the ‘blur quality’. The Japanese term ‘boke’ is also used in the sense of a mental haze or senility.



So as we glimpse another world not normally witnessed by the human eye, an un-seen world is brought to life by the lens as physics plays its part within the perceived world. Images blur and confuse our senses, mirroring our own notions of self, within our seen universe.





With minimal depth of field utilised on the camera, images produced are unworldly and transient, stripped down in colour and form, that penetrates the unnoticed fundamentals of the splendor and concealed, subtle meanings of our surroundings.



Perspectives shift and an alternate identity is revealed, expanding our notion of self.
