      About the Book

      Edit

Within living memory symmetry has been considered aesthetically and is found in craft and design as well as in architecture and fine arts. Leo Fellinger plays in his photographic constructions with this phenomen always using everyday commodities as intial points. Reality, however, gets refracted in these pictures again and again – playing with colour and form, but also with the accident. Commonplace and often insignificant things provide a perfect basis of starting material for his pictures. Only in the multiplication and symmetric kaleidoscoping the objects unfold their hidden aesthetic, transform into peacock-like mythical creatures, showing an apparent reality. These two levels – the everyday commodities and the broken reality – account for this unique excitement of the images, because they invite the viewer to explore and reflect.
