    About the Book

    Edit

I grew up with photography. My father was a keen amateur, stuck in a Civil Service office job he never particularly liked. The fridge was constantly stocked with film, and empty 35mm film spools hung suspended by pipe cleaners from the shower rails. Every house we lived in had a darkroom; he taught me to print black and white by the time I was twelve. I can’t remember not taking photographs. So this book has been a long time in the making.

    Phil Keevill
    London England

I studied graphic design at Norwich School of Art, but my first job was as an art director at J Walter Thompson, for clients such as Guinness, the RAF, The Guardian, Remy Martin and Kellogg's (launching Crunchy Nut Cornflakes). In 2003 I realized one of my ambitions to launch my own agency, Keevill Lee Kershaw, with clients including Nectar, Kew Gardens, Alpha Telecom and F&C. In 2006 I joined Kitcatt Nohr Digitas as creative director. In 2008 I was privileged to be invited to judge the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Award, and in 2010 I judged Campaign's Photo Awards. Over nearly 50 years in the advertising industry, I've been fortunate to work with, and learn from, some of the best photographers in the business, art directing shoots around the world. I now have the opportunity to put that learning into practice. Over the last couple of years, I have been commissioned by Waitrose, John Lewis, NS&I, RNIB, Toyota, Regus, Emotive Agency, 11 London and Age UK and others.
