About the Book
For six years Matt Palmer followed the rock’n’roll trail from Brisbane’s smallest venues to the biggest festivals including Big Day Out and Soundwave, camera at the ready to capture generations of performers. He has photographed everyone from legends Iggy Pop, Metallica and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds through to Queensland’s biggest talents, Powderfinger, Regurgitator and Robert Forster among them, and rising stars like Conor Orberst. Palmer was in the pit to shoot more than 400 bands, with his work originally published in publications including Rolling Stone, Rave and Australian Guitar Magazine. Palmer has since become a successful commercial and wedding photographer but this striking exhibition captures the essence of everything that’s exciting about rock’n’roll.
