About the Book
Rebecca Bate is a fine art photographer from the west midlands. Inspired by the works of Jim Goldberg, Steve Rosenfield and Jen Gotch, she uses a Fujifilm instax camera to create a snapshot of her subjects which accompanies a diary entry surrounding the issues of insecurities and body confidence. She wants to use the snapshots and diary entries to try and cancel out the negativity of body issues that are influenced by the media and society. Inspired by her own struggles with learning to love herself and overcoming body issues, she wants to show that people are not alone in feeling the way that they do and is hoping to reach people with her work to get across these messages. The snapshot images have hand written text across them expressing the inner feelings of the people within them, the diary entries that accompany these images have a more in depth explanation of how they feel including quotes and ideas on how to be happier and love themselves.
