I have an interest in what people can figure out when solving important problems, and an interest in trying to solve some of those problems myself. I am interested in science, logic, the process of writing and storytelling, especially when combining them with pictures. I am fascinated by what some people will believe for no real reason at all, and so I'm tuned to the strength of emotional argument and yes, politics. I believe that communication is difficult, and that choosing any medium to express a complicated idea will eventually reveal that medium's weakness and point to the strength of another. Still, and for all these reasons and more, I like books and slow food. For need and sometimes love I've been a carpenter, cook, commercial photographer, and web designer. I've taught, at the university level, business, design, English, and photography.
