Blurb book and user content permissions

You probably are here because we requested the right to share your book and user content across our marketing channels. We love to see the Blurb community creations—from artistic photo books to poetic memoirs and more!

We regularly reach out to Blurb creators to request additional rights to share our favorite books and user content via our social channels (like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter), email, website, and more. Whenever possible, we also include your handle or byline. Thank you for considering this request!

By selecting that you agree to our terms and conditions you are agreeing to the following:

Your book

You (the “creator”) hereby authorizes RPI, Inc. (“RPI”), the parent company of Blurb, to promote your book (“book”), including any future iterations and associated IDs, under the terms and conditions set forth below. This includes marketing promotion on all RPI and Blurb channels, including but not limited to email campaigns, social media channels, and websites.

  • You represent that you own all rights to the content of the book, that the book does not violate any rights of any person, and that the book was created in full compliance with the provisions of the RPI Terms and Conditions and the End User License Agreements which you previously agreed to, as applicable.
  • RPI may use, reproduce, adapt, distribute, publicly perform, and publicly display excerpts and images from the book including the book cover, title and title page, dedication page, table of contents, preface, glossary, index, excerpts from the body like text, files, design templates, images, photos, video, sounds, works of authorship, and other material items that you include in the book for advertising and promotional purposes, including without limitation on its website, in social media posts (paid and organic), paid media advertisements, banner ads, print ads, and other advertising and promotional material.  
  • RPI may identify and reference the origin, content, book summary, creators, author name, image, likeness, and biographical information, and other facts pertaining to the book, or materials that you submit to RPI in connection with the book as well as provide links to content relating to it within marketing materials.
  • You acknowledge you have granted this authorization without a promise of compensation other than publicity from RPI, which the parties acknowledge is meaningful.
  • You may withdraw this consent and authorization at any time on 30 days’ advance written notice to RPI. RPI will then immediately cease any activities under this authorization (although the creator acknowledges that RPI will not be responsible for ceasing, preventing, or reversing any activities carried out before the termination of this authorization).  
  • You acknowledge that providing assets and quotes grants RPI permission to utilize assets and quotes across email, social media, and website. RPI may exercise our rights anywhere in the world. 
  • Finally, this license is perpetual, meaning that our license lasts for an indefinite period of time.

We may refuse to accept or end promotion of book and user content for any reason. We may remove promotion of book from RPI channels for any reason.

Your content

You own all content and information you posted or shared (referred to as “user content”), like posting or sharing comments, photos, and videos. Or, alternatively, you have the right to give RPI the rights described above. You promise that your user content does not violate any rights of any person. You give RPI permission to use your user content as follows: 

  • You grant to RPI a license to share, adapt, reproduce, display, perform, distribute, and otherwise use your user content in connection with Blurb and for other RPI marketing purposes, including without limitation in other social media channels, websites, email, and other customer communications, and other marketing. 
  • RPI may display advertisements in connection with your user content or on pages where your user content may be viewed by you or others, and we may use your user content for advertising and promoting RPI. 
  • Our license to your user content is non-exclusive, meaning you may use the user content for your own purposes or let others use your user content for their purposes. 
  • You acknowledge you have granted this authorization without a promise of compensation other than publicity from RPI, which the parties acknowledge is meaningful. 
  • RPI may exercise our rights anywhere in the world.
  • Finally, our license is perpetual, meaning that our license lasts for an indefinite period of time.

We may refuse to accept or end user content for any reason. We may remove user content from RPI channels for any reason.

Copyright and intellectual property policy

If you believe that someone has infringed on your intellectual property rights, or if we have taken down your materials due to suspicion of copyright infringement, and you would like to dispute this, please notify us by emailing partners@blurb.com.
