About the Ebook
At the time it didn’t seem like a good thing—moving seven times in the first seventeen years of my life. The moves always seemed to come at awkward times of development for me—first grade, sixth grade, ninth grade; but the last was the most exasperating because it was just before my senior year in high school. It was extremely unsettling, to move into a new state, new community, and to know no one in my new high school. Instead of being bitter, I resolved to rise up to the new opportunities presented to me. Someone once said, “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond.” These changes prepared me for a traveling lifestyle I had no clue about as a youngster, an itinerant lifestyle of ministry. All total, I’ve lived in 24 different homes in 8 states and 2 provinces of Canada! I’ve taught in five different states and discovered teachers and kids are all pretty much the same wherever I go!
Stepping through the recipes of life is a short narrative of a literal dream fulfilled; I knew I was going to marry a preacher man. With a dash of humor this is a story of what has moved me throughout the North American continent in various ministry roles. It has undoubtedly been a challenging faith walk, but every step a blessing—some in disguise, but ordained by an ever present and loving God. Not only are these anecdotes about what moved me physically from east to west, from north to south, but they have also stirred me to faith, love, joy, tears, and laughter.
I’m always cooking up something in the kitchen; experimenting with a certain recipe or trying a unique ingredient is an exciting experience for me. I like to take tried and true recipes and make them even better and healthier. Even though everything doesn’t need fixing, it somehow makes me feel better to know I put my special touches on it! Change and creativity have always been second nature to me. Adding a little spice to life is always a good thing, right?
