Gerda Liebmann attended the Kunstgewerbeschule in St.Gallen, Switzerland, where she studied graphic design. She apprenticed in several of the region's top graphics studios before coming to the United States in 1981 and founding International Print and Design, a studio specializing in design services for global high technology companies. After retiring from the company to raise her two sons, she shifted to the fine arts. She also became an ordained minister and founded Red Bank Community Church with her husband, Rev. Lenny Liebmann.

Gerda works primarily in acrylic on large canvases and in encaustics. She also specializes in installation pieces that invite viewers to consider scriptural themes in new ways. Recently, she has been working in digital photography and video as well.
