About the Book
This collection of photos comes from the West African country of Niger.
My wife and I spent a year as aid workers at Kirker Hospital, a 147-bed facility in Southeast Niger, in the small, remote town of Maïné-Soroa. The hospital grew out of the medical work of Dr. Bill and Barbara Kirker, a legendary couple who served there for many years with the Peace Corps in the 1960s. Adventist Health International organized a team including my wife, myself, acting as Development Director, Derrek and Kari, serving as administrator and teacher, and Kari B., a nurse. We worked to expand and refine the services available at the hospital.
I was impressed by the colorful culture and the friendly people that I encountered in Niger. I hope this book will reflect the beauty I found.
