A Year of Rev. Al's Sermons in Scribbles
by written & illustrated by GINGER REMBOLD Baker City First Presbyterian Church 2011
A Year of Rev. Al's Sermons takes the reader through a liturgical church year - with drawings created from Sunday Sermons. Rev. Al served as the Interim Pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Baker City, Oregon, for two years from 2009-2011. The author began her journey into sermon scribbles in 2010 and this book was created in tribute to Rev. Al upon his departure. "Go to church" visually with this book!
I am a "cradle Christian" having been raised in the Presbyterian Church with fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers who have served as pastors. I have listened to thousands of sermons in my lifetime. But in the spring of 2010, a sermon struck me in a very visual way. With my art education background, visual drawings have been "erupting" from my heart and hands ever since - inspired by sermons, devotions, Bible reading, even conversations with friends! It is a joy to find a way to share my "divine doodles" to inspire and assure everyone of God's all-consuming love. My husband, an elementary school teacher, and I are the parents of two mid-20's sons. My family has been a source of encouragement to put my "scribbles" to print!
