About the Book
From the City to the World, a contemporary art project documents a 2013 exhibition of art concerned with urban life. Artist/curator Diane Pontius is the creator of both the exhibition and this book. The book’s handsomely designed 47 pages contain an introductory essay by Pontius, color reproductions of paintings, sculptures and photographs by Kevin Cyr, BR1, Gabriel Specter, and Pontius, poems and essays by Lillian Pontius-Goldblatt, Sila Assad Peters, and Max Ildari, and stills from videos by teen artists in the media programs at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA)/Boston, and Raw Art Works, in Lynn, Massachusetts. The New Art Center Curatorial Opportunity Program partly funded the exhibition in Newton, MA.
