About the Book
A study of natural light through photography. The images were taken using various techniques, including: 35mm colour and black & white film, reversal film, infrared filter, and various digital image sensors.
How does natural light influence the ambiance and mood of a moment in time? Sunlight shapes the perception of the uniqueness of a moment and a sense of continuity over time and place.
The images were taken in the last six years at various locations in Europe and North America, such as: Barcelona, Boston, Chicago, Gdańsk, Granada, Guimarães, Helsinki, Kielce, Kraków, Lisbon, Madrid, Montreal, New Orleans, Paris, Seville, Sopot.
My interest in photography goes back to childhood. In the 90s, I spent a lot of time in the darkroom at McGill University, printing from 35 mm film. I continue to shoot on 35 mm film, but I have increasingly used various digital cameras as well. In 2012, during my research sabbatical from my job as a Digital Projects & System Development Librarian at Concordia University, I was delighted to return to the darkroom, and do some more printing in black & white.
