About the Book
- 7x7
"a frighteningly honest snapshot of life in San Francisco."
-The Huffington Post
"city, speak to me" is the result of a photographer walking this city and inviting a poet to give words to what her images speak. What emerges is a glimpse of how the places in this city—intimate, familiar, hidden, and imagined—build bridges between the moments, memories, and desires that become an integral part of who we are.
About the Creator
SILVI ALCIVAR’s poetry lives in the moment two strangers meet over her red royal typewriter—the anonymity an invitation to speak, the typewriter keys a willing listener. As The Poetry Store poet, Silvi uses this of-the-moment process to create art, jewelry, and custom poems on demand. She received her MFA in Creative Nonfiction writing from Penn State and earned a BA in writing and art from the College Scholar program at Cornell University. Her work has been performed on stage and radio as well as published in online journals, Poets 11, and Broke-Ass Stuart‘s latest book. Since 2008, she has written and sold thousands of poems and exhibited work at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, Femina Potens Gallery, SOMArts Ramp Gallery, Live Worms, The Goods Gallery, and Secession Art & Design. In 2010, she was featured in The San Francisco Chronicle, 7x7, and named one of the best new finds of the year by Daily Candy SF.
