About the Book
This is the sixth annual collection of my photographs (or the tenth, if you allow for the fact that I bundled 5 years' worth into one volume, covering 2004 to 2008.....) and I'm running out of things to say by way of introduction. No bad thing, you might say - especially if you ploughed through the previous ones.
However, I guess I should make some comment on this collection. It runs to 160 pages again and, at one point in the preparation, threatened to go beyond that! A swift cull took place, to bring it back to manageability; but I did find I lost 'coverage' of my year as a result, and certain events, visits, journeys, walks and so on have disappeared from the record. So be it.
I find it very difficult to assess the relative quality of the books I produce, so I'll leave that to others. I still enjoy taking the photographs, and I'll continue to do so, as long as that's the case. There's been no change at all this year in the equipment I've been using; indeed, I'm enjoying working with what I have, particularly my two Canon DSLRs (EOS 400D and EOS 500D) and the two 'fixed' lenses (35mm and 50mm) I bought last year.
My main regret, this year, is that I haven't spent enough time in the hills - with, or without my camera - and that's something I intend to rectify in 2014. In the meantime, I hope you find something to enjoy in this latest collection.
