About the Book
This book is a compilation of images from three models. Victor on the left, Michael in the middle, and Dexter on the right. These three guys are professional models who I shot a couple of years ago. Each one was wonderful to work with, awesomely built, gentle, and so cooperative. I shot them with my friend and fellow photographer, Melchor Ruiz, and we really asked a lot of these guys. The weather was cold and we even dragged Victor up to the mountains in 30 degree temperatures and he was really a trouper.
They were all so cooperative to do whatever we asked of them and the images proved what professionals they were. I have been so blessed to have such kind and gentle models throughout my career and these guys made my life and work so easy.
Having discovered photography in high school, my interest has continued over the years. I have had experience with large format cameras (4x5), medium format cameras (2-1/4) and small format cameras (35mm), but now have advanced to digital cameras. This type of photography allows for using a "dry darkroom" - the computer. The ease of shooting the picture, immediately evaluating, cropping and enhancing the image is very exciting. After years of working in a wet darkroom, the change is not only cleaner, but offers more flexibility. Because computers can do far more things than conventional photography, the digital world allows far more creativity. Working in my own graphics and typesetting business for over 30 years gave me an early introduction to computers and the sophistication of the new graphics programs. I have taken thousands of images and these books have given me incentive to find new models to photograph, so this will be a continuing process.
