Home Is Where The Heart Is
Memories of My Mom's Home Cooking

About the Book
Some of my favorite memories center around our kitchen when I was growing up. It was our common ground. It was always warm and comfortable with wonderful aromas that still play in my mind today. It was a place where my Mom lovingly prepared our meals for the day. She was always there first thing in the morning with a hearty breakfast waiting for me before I marched off to school. She was always there to greet me when I ran home from school to have lunch with her before having to scurry back to finish my day. And she was there every night serving up the best meal that took her all day to prepare. And we would sit together as a family and share the love. Some of my fondest memories are the times I spent with my Mom in the kitchen. I have her image etched into my memory. Memories of her standing at the stove stirring chicken and dumplings or at the table with her hands in a big bowl of dough making bread. I can still see her pouring that cornbread batter in a hot sizzling cast skillet and it still makes me smile. The Kitchen was a place of love and joy in our home. She was the best mother. She showered those she loved with good food and I was usually right next to her with a spoon in my hand ready to stir whatever she was making. Our home was always filled with love, food, family, and laughter. My Mom made our home a loving place to feel safe and secure no matter what was going on in the world. My Mom has a different Home now....she moved to Heaven a few years ago and left me with so many loving memories. And these memories of my childhood home will never leave me. Because home is truly where the heart is.
